Red & White Amaryllis Christmas Flowers

Channels / Christmas Ideas

This design is for all those who asked for a quick and easy traditional Christmas floral design to rest on a banquet or buffet table. When it comes to a flower representing Christmas most think of red or
white poinsettia, but for me it has always been the red and white amaryllis. Stunningly shaped and vibrantly coloured, these loud and proud blooms don’t need much to make them really sing. The second request I often get is what other botanicals would I put with them?

Well, because it is a Christmas display, I’m using ivy which will give movement, creamy white snowberries which help defuse their dominating white form, and red holly works a treat when it comes to breaking up and graduating the eye away from the full strength reds of the amaryllis. Add a spiky form to achieve lineal direction and instantly the design comes to fruitions.

Things to gather:
- I selected a classically shaped glass urn which I painted using chalk paint. I used the white but it could also be red.
- 2 bunches of ivy bush.
- 4 white snowberry stems.
- 2 white & 3 amaryllis blooms.
- 2 stems of red holly berry spray.
- I also managed to find from the cheap store 2 pieces of spiky orchid leaves.

Happy holidays & Merry Christmas!
