This one's for Beth — who lives in Hawaii, owns a beautiful tropical vase she never uses, and was told she wasn't allowed to put anything other than tropical flowers into it.
I say: nonsense. And I'd genuinely like to know who makes these rules.
Beth wanted to know if it was okay to pair lemons or limes with her white orchids. The answer is an emphatic yes — there are no rules when it comes to a visual desire, and the proof is in today's design.
Citrus on the branch alongside white orchids is unexpected, sophisticated, and exactly the kind of combination that makes a room stop and stare. I call it designing with an edge.
So Beth, this one's for you. And for anyone else who's been told what they can and can't do with a vase they love.
You'll need:
- A tropical-inspired vase
- White orchids
- Lemons on branches — fresh or faux
- Optional: a few stems of yellow berries
See the video for how I brought it all together.
Happy designing ????
