Valentines Day Floristry: Waxed Roses into a Heart Shaped Bowl

Channels / Valentines Day Ideas

Today we learn how to make waxed roses. If you're looking for a way of extending the love-moments of those beautiful roses gifted for love this Valentine’s Day, then this design might just be the perfect solution. Dipping fresh or even artificial roses into wax was once the best way of extending or preserving the life of flowers and foliage. I remember this technique being used years ago to preserve wedding bouquets.

You will need to gather:
- Double boiler, glass jar. I used a black candle, chopped and placed into the jar, then melted it.
- Either fresh or artificial red rose buds. tThe roses need to be quite tight and it is worth mentioning that fresh have several months life, but artificial will last many years once waxed.
- Concrete finished heart shaped container in a size to suit.
- Floral foam to fill cavity of container
- Moss to cover foam.
- Concrete heart to further embellish.

Happy Valentines Day!
