Today I have a tutorial on how to create your own Bonsai-inspired design in a matter of minutes. The art of Japanese Bonsai or miniature landscape in a tray/container. Based on the Chinese 5 agents’ theory of water, fire, wood, metal and earth.
Bon – container or saucer
Sai – tree
While traveling through Japan I fell in love with Bonsai. My quest when I got home was to produce my own, but now discovering how much care and attention is required and factoring in my age, I am too old. I’ll pop up some images to view on my Instagram page. To stand beside trees well over 100 was very thought provoking and humbling to say the least.

You will need:
- Bonsai type flat dish container
- Drainage matter
- Bonsai soil
- Plant
- Rocks/stones/moss for accessories etc
- Wire to fix and hold tree in place once planted
