A floral design in an ornately decorated vase with hanging amaranthus, ivy, hydrangea and roses!

Channels / Wedding Ideas

Often, I am asked what are the best colours or forms to place into a heavily encrusted or ornate vases. I recommend lots of different greens. Ivy and ferns always work a treat because:
1. The ivy adds movement and will help soften or dull high colours or textures.
2. Ferns help further with grace, form and diffusion.

If the vase has shades tones and tint of a primary colour – use that as your flower colour choice.
If there is white or cream use that as your main colour-way & let the vase be the statement piece with the flowers becoming almost secondary, but still visually enhancing.

Things to gather –
- Several pieces of long ivy tendrils
- Fern bushes of your choice – I used maiden hair along with a slender ladder fern
- Several pieces of hanging amaranthus
- Green hydrangeas, white snowballs
- Fully open white & pink roses.
